Chevrolet Beat 2017

New Chevrolet Beat to be launched in 2017

Agencies: Chevrolet Beat India, revealed at the 2015 New york Auto Show in April, will be launched in India in 2017. Chevrolet has claimed that the new Spark, which is based on a new platform codenamed the M2, cannot be manufactured in India without the company making significant investments. As the company does not think the new model will be viable in terms of business, it has decided to heavily modify the current Beat and make an almost all-new car. This will be ready for launch in 2017.

The new Beat will also share a lot of parts with the 2016 Spark, especially in terms of design and equipment. It is rumoured that Chevrolet India does want the new Beat to have the grown-up interior seen on the 2016 Spark, which could mean that it will also receive the new Chevrolet-signature three-spoke steering wheel design, a normal digital-analogue instrument cluster (which will replace the much loved motorcycle-themed one found on the current model), redesigned dashboard, etc.

Equipment-wise, the 7-inch touch-screen multimedia system found on the 2016 Spark could make its way to the new Beat. Chevrolet India could bring in a smaller unit to keep costs low, but this feature is expected to make its way as it will make the Beat more youth-friendly. The LCD screen on the instrument cluster found on the Spark could be replaced by a more basic screen on the new Beat.

The new Beat will be powered by a new petrol engine which will be a smaller version of the 1.4-litre Ecotec motor introduced on the 2016 Spark, it could be a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder motor. The 1.0-litre diesel engine powering the current Beat diesel model will be improved upon and carried over.

The new Beat could be assembled at either of the two GM plants in India, it is reported that the company wants India to become a hub for small car production for many international markets. The new Beat could gain from heavy localisation and the economies of scale that the export program will bring, it could be more aggressively priced than before.
